ALCAM

Alcam (Alex Calatayud Mollà) explores the tension between the visible and the hidden, the figurative and the abstract. His paintings open a dialogue between what we reveal and what we keep within, as if two realities—emotion and form—competed for space. Using layered techniques and deliberate cuts, he exposes what lies beneath, turning each canvas into a metaphor for perception and identity. What appears chaotic often hides silent structure, and what seems controlled may carry unrest. Trained in illustration and tattooing, and shaped by years in Italy, Switzerland, and the UK, Alcam blends precision with raw expression. The canvas remains his most honest territory—where truth and complexity coexist.

Creative Process

Alcam’s creative process begins with layers—paint, gesture, emotion—building tension on the surface until it becomes dense and alive. Then, with a precise cut, he breaks through, not to destroy but to reveal. This act of incision becomes a gesture of honesty, uncovering textures and truths that were hidden beneath. Each painting is an invitation to explore, to question, to reflect on the dual nature of identity—what we show and what we suppress. For Alcam, creation is not only about making something new, but also about exposing what was already there, waiting to be seen.

Ongoing Artworks

Building on this exploration of duality and hidden layers, Alcam now ventures into new cultural and emotional terrains. His upcoming pieces will feature iconic figures such as Post Malone and Billie Eilish—symbols of contemporary identity and contradiction—alongside bold reinterpretations of Renaissance masterpieces. Through the same language of layered textures and revealing cuts, these works will challenge viewers to reimagine the familiar, bridging past and present, popular and classical, surface and depth.
